FAKE REVIEWS

A Former Employee Left a Bad Review. Can You Remove It?

Google does not allow reviews from people with a personal stake in the business, and that includes current and former employees.

Why it is removable

An employee’s review of the business they worked for is a conflict of interest, even if they also ate there. The review is about their job, not a customer experience.

How to confirm it

Compare the reviewer’s name and profile photo with staff records, and check whether the review mentions internal details a customer wouldn’t know.

How to report it

Flag it under conflict of interest. In an appeal, state that the reviewer is a former employee and give the dates they worked for you. Avoid sharing personal information beyond what is needed.

Workplace reviews belong elsewhere

Employees can leave workplace reviews on job sites. That is their right; the Google profile is for customers.
